Can you save this pasta sauce?
TEST YOUR SKILLS
zest
Your sauce tastes too
acidic. What's your move?
Butter
Pepper flakes
More tomatoes
Butter!
Fat helps tame acidity and gives the sauce a smooth, velvety finish. Pepper flakes might just make it spicier, and extra tomatoes could add more acidity instead of solving the issue.
zest
It's getting there, but still feels
kind of dull. What's next?
Basil
Balsamic vinegar
Salt
Salt!
Add salt! A pinch of salt wakes up flavors and can make your sauce go from "meh" to marvelous. Herbs are great, but they shine best when the base flavors are in harmony.
zest
Yikes... Too salty now. Don't
make it worse again...
Add water
Add cream
Add potatoes
Potatoes!
Add potatoes! Raw potatoes can absorb some of the salt as they cook in the sauce. Adding water can dilute it, but might leave it watery unless you reduce it again. Cream can balance salt a little, but will change the texture and flavor. Just remember to remove the potatoes :)
zest
Great work chef! The pasta
sauce is divine. As long as
none of the guests recently
started the carnivore diet, this dinner party is gonna
be amazing :)
zest
But it wasn't. Every. Single. Guest.
Was carnivore. Even your Mom.
Which would have been fine, but
she was a little condescending
about it toward you.
I'm not saying it's the same
for everyone, I'm just saying
personally I couldn't eat the
garbage you do.
It's like Duolingo,
