Toniebox vs Yoto Mini

Toniebox versus Yoto Mini. Let's go. They are both screen free story and music players, and I like them each for different reasons. We actually have two Yoto Minis. One for my three year old, one for my five year old. We love it for road trips, and we especially love it for sleep. The Toniebox on the other hand, is not good for travel, and I also don't like it for sleep. I like how calm the Yoto mini stories are. I like that there's not some big light. Like, they do have a little image on the screen. I'll show you, like, when you plug in a story, so I'll plug it in. Here's Beauty and the Beast, the rose for number one. Chapter 2 is Belle. My girls like that, but I don't find, like, it's super over-stimulating. The Yoto app is also amazing. I can limit the night time volume, and I can control it remotely from my phone. So I can turn stories on and off, change it from my phone. I can have the stories play on a loop all night to help them keep sleeping, and I can turn the volume down from my phone without going in their room. Now these stories do not have music included. They're just an audiobook. You can buy, like, music cards, but that's not what my kids listen to at night because, like, really wakes them up. Now here is the Toniebox. It has songs and stories and it has this light that shines and I just find all of that is too stimulating for my girls to sleep. The other thing I don't like is the app is not good. I can't control this remotely from my phone. If we lose the figures, that's it, we lost the story. Whereas with the Yoto, whatever cards I add to the app are always there. Even if I lose them physically, I can play them on the Yoto through my app. Yoto also has Yoto Radio. They can listen to a little daily podcast and also to different radio stations. Now I know at this point it seems like I hate the Toniebox, but I don't. What I like the Toniebox for is playing. And I really like it for my 1.5 year old toddler who can't quite use the Yoto independently yet. The buttons are a little more complicated. You need better fine motor skills. But my 1.5 year old can very easily go and plug in a figure and listen to her favorite songs and her favorite story. You also just hit the side to, like, change the songs, and then the only buttons are these two. So it's super, super young toddler friendly. I love this one for if we're just like, playing in the living room and we need some background noise. I think it's great for that, but when I started letting my girls take it to bed, it just caused all sorts of problems. Now, you might also be wondering what's the difference between the Yoto Mini and the Yoto full size? My best friend's daughter has the full size, and I just don't like that it's not portable. And I'll play you a card because the Yoto Mini volume is plenty loud. So, like, let's see. Chapter 2. It's loud. If I was gonna be spending the money on this Yoto, I just wanted to make sure it was something my girls could also use on car rides. And my 5 year old is obsessed with it. She's really into The Wizard of Oz right now, and this is like the actual novel that plays. And she'll take this, she'll put it around her wrist, and she'll just go around the house listening to her little story. This is not sponsored, by the way.
