Pero yung totoo, they're all lies from marketing. One of the biggest financial lessons I've learned with this, consumerism doesn't just sell products. They sell hope, identities. It sells the idea that becoming better, your life will be better, after you check out. And yes, I fell for it like so many times, a lot. Here are some of the most expensive lies I've ever believed. Number one, "This will change your life." This will change your life. Will it though? Turns out, hindi pala life-changing. Number two, "You deserve it." Naku, ito talaga. After a very stressful week, what do we say? "Deserve ko 'to." After surviving Monday, "Deserve ko 'to." Number three, "This will make you more organized." Hmmm. As a planner girlie, ang dami kong notebooks, planners, organizers. Alam mo, buying another planner doesn't make me organized. Actually, using one does. So, ginagamit mo ba 'yung mga binili mong planners diyan? Number four, "You need the complete set!" Kumpleto. Why does every hobby immediately become shopping one hobby, supplies, accessories, storage, upgrade. Before you know it, nagsisimula pa lang yung hobby mo, sangkatutak na yung ginastos mo. Number five, "You will become that girl!" This was the most expensive of all organized, the organized version of me, the artistic version of me, the healthy version of me, the successful version of me. The woman who has her life together. I will become that girl. Who is that girl even? But eventually, I learned, you don't become that girl by simply owning stuff. Alam mo, one of the biggest signs I've grown financially is this. I can now look at something and say, "Oh, ang cute, ang ganda, ang useful." And then leave. So, anong product ka madalas mabudol because of these consumerism tactics? The... Share.
