At chapter 28, David is making his preparations to hand off the plans to his son Solomon. And at the beginning of chapter 28, he assembles all of Israel, and he tells them that he's going to be handing this thing off to Solomon because that's what God's plan is for him. At verse 2, it says, King David rose to his feet and said, hear me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the Ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God. And I made preparations for building. When we jump down to verse 5, it says, and of all my sons, For the Lord has given me many sons. He has chosen Solomon my son, to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel. Verse 9, he pivots to tell Solomon what he wants him to do. You, Solomon, my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. Then in verse 11, it goes into this deep explanation of the plans that he gives Solomon. He gives him the plans for everything. Really, really deep and well thought out plans. Stay with me here, cause I want you to catch this. Then David gave Solomon his son the plan of the vestibule of the temple and its houses, its treasuries, its upper rooms, its inner chambers, and of the room of the mercy seat. And the plan of all that he had in mind for the courts of this house of the Lord, all surrounding chambers, the treasuries of the house of God. The treasuries for the dedicated gifts, for the divisions of the priests and the Levites, and all the work of the service in the house of the Lord. For all the vessels for service in the house of the Lord, the weight of gold for all gold vessels for each service, the weight of silver vessels for each service, the weight of the golden lampstands in their lamps, the weight of gold for each lampstand and its lamps, the weight of silver for a lampstand and its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand in service, the weight of gold for each table for the showbread, the silver for the silver tables, pure gold for the forks, the basins and the cups for the golden bowls, and the weight of each for the silver bowls, and the weight of each for the altar of the incense made of refined gold in its weight. And also his plan for the cherubim, of the cherubim that shall spread their wings and cover the ark of the covenant of the Lord. All this he made clear to me, writing for the hand of the Lord. All the work to be done according to the plan. That's a lot of detailed planning. But in the next verse, at verse 20, David lands the plane. David said to Solomon, his son, be strong and courageous and do it. His call to his son was to be strong, courageous, and to do it. Even if you have all of the plans in place, and God has laid something on your heart and he's giving you every single aspect of that plan, it still must be done. Execution and obedience is required. In business, we have a tendency to spend a lot of time on plans and not a lot of time on execution. My encouragement to you is, what have you been planning that you need to move forward and do? What have you been stewing over that needs to be done? And I wanna encourage you with the same words that Solomon gave his son, be strong and courageous and do it.
