part two. So number four is that the brand is the only thing that will protect your company because price can be beaten, people can copy your product, but your brand is your brand. There's a reason that people buy Coke and not RC Cola or, you know, Yeti or Nike instead of a commodity. It's the brand. And the brand is what establishes trust. So I learned this lesson at an automotive suspension company, I was the president there and the product was actually named after the product. And we built a brand to the point that we grew our business with distributors and others, and I won big brands like, you know, Winnebago and Airstream and John Deere because of brand. And the brand is the only thing that protects you. So even when people came and copied us, it didn't really matter because we had a brand. Law number five is decision velocity. And the lesson there is that if you don't have clear direction and move with speed, filtered, you won't be able to execute well. So the company that I'm the CEO of now, when I joined, I was very scattered. And so I set three goals for the year and then you execute monthly cycles. And in those cycles, you only work on things that meaningfully move you towards your big three goals. And then you measure at the end of the month, was it executed or failed? And when you do that, that moves your company forward, but with clear direction toward an actual goal. And I built software called Unbreakable OS, just so we could do that. Law number six is that you need to lead people in a way that they want to actually follow you. How do you do that? You go first. They never asked me for a raise, never asked me for a promotion, didn't ask me to negotiate their contract. I did all of that on their behalf. And so you got to go first. Law number seven is that you have to build systems so that you are not required to be in the business because if you build a business where you're required, you've built a prison and a cage. And so the system that I'm in now, the business that I'm in now, I call myself the dispensable CEO. And the board knows I am because the systems are in place, you don't need me. When you do that, you're leading from a place of stewardship and you do that through documenting your systems and solving problems in perpetuity, rather than playing whack-a-mole. Those are the seven laws. Every one of them is rooted in biblical wisdom because the Bible is the best business book you'll ever read. And what I'm trying to build is a community for what I call biblical business. If you're interested in that, then follow along and I'll catch you on the flip side.
