The good news is, it's never been easier to build your own. The internet gives you every resource you need to start building for yourself. You just need persistence, guts, and conviction. Find people who make you feel behind If you're the most impressive person in the room you're in, you're in the wrong room. Proximity to people ahead of you will teach you things no textbook will. Get comfortable being the least experienced person at the table - Imposter syndrome is the biggest sign of growth. A fancy job title will not fulfill you I thought I made it at Goldman - but when I looked around, I realized I didn't want the life my bosses were living. If your work isn't fulfilling you or pointing you somewhere real - the name on your badge is doing more for your ego than your future. Don't be afraid to take risks, but there's a caveat Going all-in with 0 plan is reckless, not brave. Before you quit your 9-5, build actual proof on the side (a client, a following, a prototype with traction). THEN, go all-in Uncalculated risk is just dumb gambling. Your network is built BEFORE you need it, not when you need it The people who seem to "get lucky" with opportunities spend years helping people solve problems without asking for anything in return. Your network compounds, so send that DM you've been sitting on today. Be vocal about your mistakes Most people only share the highlights, the stuff that makes them look good. But this only makes you look like everyone else. Your community is capped at how vulnerable you're willing to be - so share the messy middle/mistakes no one wants to talk about.
