Most people who say they've fallen out of love were never actually in love to begin with. They were in lust. At the beginning, you can't keep your hands off each other. Everything feels exciting. You're texting all day, calling every night. You get butterflies every time their name pops up on your phone. You think about them constantly. You want to kiss them, you want to touch them. You want to be around them every second of the day. And those feelings are real. I'm not gonna take that away from you. But they aren't love. They're attraction, they're infatuation, they're novelty. A lot of people mistaken intense chemistry for deep compatibility. And then what happens is, six months later or so, the butterflies settle and novelty wears off. Your brain isn't getting flooded with dopamine every time they walk into a room. You stop trying to impress each other. You stop putting your best foot forward. You get comfortable. And suddenly everyone panics. We've lost the spark. We've fallen out of love. No. You've reached the point where a real relationship actually begins. Because now you have to answer the question that actually matters. Can you solve problems together? Can you forgive each other? Can you respect each other even when frustrated? Can we choose each other on the days we don't feel like it? Can we build a life together when life isn't exciting anymore? Because lust gets you through the door. But character determines whether you stay in the house. That's why so many relationships don't fail because the love disappeared. They fail because the attraction disappeared. And people never realise those two things were very, very different.
