Hi, it's Juliana! I think it's important to walk through what's happening here. She wipes her lips to prove there's no lipstick. Not enough. She wipes under her eyes to prove there's no eye makeup. Not enough. She wipes her cheeks to prove there's nothing there either. Not enough. And once she's practically run out of places to wipe, he says: "How do I know you won't put it on after I hang up?" Why? Because knowing she's not wearing makeup isn't the goal. Feeling in control of what she does is. If makeup was the goal, then once she proved she wasn't wearing any… He would have been satisfied! But a need for control can never really be satisfied. Because there's always something else to control: – What you wear. – Who you talk to. – Where you go. – How you spend your money. – What you post. – When you come home. – How clean the house is. – What you cook. – How quickly you respond. – What you do with your free time. So it's never really enough. And that's why I thought it was important to walk through this. Because so many of us get into these relationships where we start believing: "If I just do X, then Y." But what if Y is never coming? What if the reason it feels like no matter what you do, it's never good enough is because they don't actually care about what you do, they just want to be in control? What if you're trying to satisfy something that was never designed to be satisfied...? If you need someone to talk to about all of this, you can always send me a DM or schedule a session with me. My team and I help people heal from narcissistic abuse, and many of us have experienced it ourselves, so we're here if you need us. To your healing, Juliana ❤️🩹
