Hi, it's Juliana! In a healthy relationship, the thought is often: “They're busy, I'm not, so I'll get up.” In a narcissistic relationship, the thought is often: “They're busy, but I don't want to get up. So they can do it.” Why? They believe you're there to make their life easier. You can think of this like the relationship you have with your TV remote. If the TV is too loud, you could get up and lower it with one of the buttons on the side. But if there's a remote sitting next to you, why would you? I mean, the whole purpose of the remote is to make controlling the TV easier for you. So why would you get up? That's more or less what's going on here. In a narcissistic partner's mind, you're more of a tool than a partner. You're not supposed to share a life with them. You're supposed to make their life easier. So instead of treating you like an equal: “They're already doing something. I'll get it.” They treat you like a tool: “Why would I get up when I can get them to do it?” The same way you would treat your remote, phone, things like that. If you need someone to talk to about all of this, you can always send me a DM or schedule a session with me. My team and I help people heal from narcissistic abuse, and many of us have experienced it ourselves, so we're here if you need us. To your healing, Juliana ❤️🩹
