A girl came into my shop with this tablet after her parents intentionally destroyed the screen. And the reason they did it was insane. Apparently, they caught her using it in the middle of the night after they had already taken it away from her multiple times. They thought she was secretly talking to someone online. So during an argument, her dad grabbed the tablet and smashed the screen. A few days later, they realized she actually needed the tablet for school. That's when they brought it. The tablet itself was still working, completely unusable. They asked me if I could save it instead of spending hundreds of dollars replacing the entire device. I told them there was a chance. What they didn't tell was that they were getting it repaired. Her tablet was permanently gone. I started working on the destroyed display. The repair took much longer than expected, but eventually, I managed and got the tablet running normally again. Everything responded properly, the image looked clean, and somehow the device had survived the whole situation. Her parents picked it up, but instead of immediately giving it back to her, they told me they would keep it hidden until her birthday and planned to surprise her with the exact tablet she thought they had destroyed. I genuinely don't know whether that makes the story better or worse.
