The Instagram algorithm is about to punish you for being perfect. And for everyone out there who hates AI slop, you are going to love this one. So if you didn't see this, the head of Instagram Adam Masari just went out and pretty much wrote a 20 slide long manifesto on his Instagram. In long story short, he said that the perfect polish feed that Instagram was built on is absolutely dead. And it's all because of AI. And he's noticed that flattening imagery is cheap to produce, but also boring to consume. Like why are we watching videos of LeBron James milking a cow? And he even acknowledged that the AI slop on Instagram is getting to be a problem. But the most important takeaway from this little manifesto he put out is that authenticity and being not perfect is actually going to be rewarded going forward. Think about this video I'm making right now. Do you really think that AI would let this football show in the back of my green screen right here? Whether you want to believe it or not, you seeing this stuff in the background behind my head or my chair squeaking is actually a signal to you that I am real and this is not AI slot. And him saying this actually just put all those AI facialies guru out of business. Cuz it's obvious they're selling a ticket, but that ticket is to the Titanic. Now to be clear, Instagram is not anti-AI. But the people who are making videos like this are missing the plot entirely. If you're a creator and you're planning on using AI, don't use it to replace you. Use it to actually enhance you or speed up your workflow. Two things can exist at the same time. But as far as making videos goes, be imperfect. Let the camera shake, let the chair make some noise. Doesn't matter. Because ironically, AI is so perfect that it can't fake imperfection.
