How to invest $1,000 in your 20s so you're not broke or still working in your 60s. This is what my portfolio is looking like at 24 years old. And I started off broke and I had to teach myself everything about personal finance and investing. And this is the same exact strategy that I use to teach my 15-year-old sister how to start investing. So if she can learn, you can too. First, choose a brokerage. This is just the platform that you're gonna use to hold your stocks. They're all free to sign up, plus you can always switch later on if you want to. Personally, I use Vanguard, Fidelity, and Webull. You don't need all three, just choose any that you like. Any of these are fine, just make sure that they're reputable. Step number two, invest your money. Now this is up to you and your goals and risk tolerance. But me personally, if I was just beginning, I would put $400 into an ETF called VOO, which gives exposure to the top 500 largest companies in the US stock market. It's a self-correcting mechanism, meaning that if one company on this list falls off, another one will just take its place. And on average, it returns 8-10% a year. That's good enough for me. Then I would put $300 into QQQM. This is an ETF that tracks the Nasdaq 100, which is mainly tech and growth stock. Now there's a little overlap between the two, but QQQM has a lot more concentration in tech stocks, which I'm okay with since I'm young because I can take a lot more risk for a lot more reward. And I would put the last $300 into high-risk, high-reward individual stocks that you personally believe in. But only blue-chip companies that you truly believe that are going to be around and on top for the next 10 to 20 years, like Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta, not random meme or penny stock. And honestly, if you don't want to do all that, you can just dump everything to VOO and you'll be fine. Then step number three, which is optional but highly recommended, and it's to automate your investments. Investing is a long-term game and it only works if you're consistent. Every brokerage allows you to do this. So I don't care if you have $50 or $5, set this up right now so you can build the habit and you can always increase it later on. If you start at 20, it literally only takes a couple hundred dollars a month to become a millionaire by the time you retire. So please start investing now. I promise you it will change your life. And if you need any more help, I created a free investing guide for beginners that will walk you through the entire steps on how to start investing. Just hit the link in my bio to see for yourself. I hope this helps.
