They’re often the teacher who’s learned how to talk about what they actually do, take risks and be happy to put themselves out there! Job or no job! Promotion or no promotion! They’re the teachers who are absolutely fine going through the process and learning and growing as an interviewee even! I’ve coached teachers with 20… 30… years in education who still say things like… “Oh… I just mentored a graduate.” “I only ran the PLC.” “I was just helping the AP with that.” “I just coordinated the curriculum.” Mate…😫 Can we retire the word “just”!!!!!!!! Those aren’t little jobs. That’s leadership. That’s influence. That’s trust. And here’s the part that might sting. Someone with half your experience is probably already practising how to tell those exact stories. Not because they’re a better teacher. Because they’ve realised something you haven’t yet… Panels can’t reward leadership you refuse to claim. So please… Stop waiting until you feel “ready.” Stop hoping they’ll magically see your potential. And stop shrinking your experience to make yourself feel comfortable. Own your stories.
