Teachers your applications are missing one important thing ...

I've been reading lots of applications recently and can I just say something. The problem that I'm seeing over and over and the thing that is stopping good teachers from getting called to interview is when their application is so jargon heavy, almost void of human experience. I've read and I think I've come to the conclusion that teachers really feel they need to make sure that they've got the department jargon in there because that's what's going to make them seem professional and that they know their stuff to the panel. The problem is so often that they're missing the proof. Everyone says they differentiate. Everyone says they build relationships. Everyone says that they use data. The panel just expects as a matter of course. But what we want is proof of that. Tell me about the student. Tell me about the challenge. Tell me about the action. Tell me about the results. Tell me about your reflections. This is what will get you please, please, please I cannot say it enough. Before you press submit, make sure that your application sounds like you, not like a robot. We need to hear your voice.
