📌 If you're applying for your first leadership position, can I encourage you to stop focusing on the things you haven't done yet. "I've never been a leading teacher!” "I've never managed a budget." "I've never led a whole-school initiative." I hear these concerns all the time. The truth is, leadership doesn't suddenly begin when someone hands you a title. It begins the moment your impact reaches beyond your own classroom. So before you convince yourself you're "not ready", put your experiences through what I call the Leadership Filter. Ask yourself... ✨ Who did I influence beyond my students? ✨ What did I improve beyond my own classroom? ✨ Who did I support beyond my own practice? ✨ What did I take ownership of beyond my own responsibilities? Don't rush these questions. Think about the graduate teacher you mentored. The colleague you encouraged after a difficult lesson. The planning you shared. The parent you built trust with. The curriculum you refined with your team. The initiative you quietly took ownership of because it needed doing. These are leadership moments. Your job now isn't to invent leadership experience. It's to recognise it, reflect on it, and learn to tell those stories with confidence. Because panels aren't looking for someone who's already done the role. They're looking for someone who's already demonstrating the behaviours of a great leader. 💚I have resources to help you write your leadership application or practise the most highly anticipated interview questions - reach out if you need to chat! #teacherinterviews #teachersoftiktok #storysystem #leadershipinterview #keyselectioncriteria
