Amex Cobalt Fee Increase

Amex Cobalt is going up from $13 a month to $16 a month. Here's why it's still worth it despite that increase. First, if you spend more than $300 on food and this includes Uber Eats, then this card is immediately worth it. No matter how you spend your points, you're going to be getting 1 cent per point. That is the baseline for how much you can get per point. Second thing is that you also need to look at the other benefits that are not as obvious. For example, the fact that you get 3X on subscriptions is great. I pay for my Spotify through my Amex. On top of that, you're getting insurance that's gonna come directly with the card. My iPhone is insured by my Amex. And if you decide to book your Amex, you'll get insurance if that flight gets delayed. Insurance normally costs a good amount of money and the fact that you're getting it through a credit card once again shows that it's valuable. Finally, this is under the assumption that you get an Amex point just using it at a 1 cent per redemption basis. But there are different ways you can redeem your Amex points a little bit more through the different bonuses that Amex runs. For example, it so that you get a 30% bonus when you transfer to Marriott. What these go to show is that there are so many other ways I can redeem your points so that they're worth more than one cent. The big takeaway is that if you spend $300 a month on food, you are already 100% gonna be breaking even on the card. And if you spend your points wisely, you're gonna be getting a lot more than just $15 in value. If you're worried about it not being accepted at all places, just remember that Uber Eats accepts Amex. So because of that, it's basically accepted everywhere on Uber Eats. Also, you can put down your eating out with and then have all of them e-transfer you after. In general, I do highly recommend.
