People always ask me if I ever have clients who don't like their hair after, because you can see in all my videos how happy my clients are when I show them the results. Now, I've had people be disappointed a few times, and it's usually either a very simple quick fix, and once it's fixed, they're super happy with it, or they just aren't used to their natural hair. And it has nothing to do with what I did. And that is kind of what happened today. when I saw Emerson on my wait list. I wiggled things around to get her in immediately because I could tell how dried out her hair was, and I wanted to help her before it was too late. She's been wearing her hair in box braids constantly because they haven't had much success with wash and gos But now she's wanting to start wearing her hair out, which is music to my ears. My client's 12, and she does not like how big her hair is, and she's been really struggling with what to do. Half of today's appointment was about reviving her curls, and the other half was about encouraging self love and understanding that curly hair expands and that's okay. She definitely didn't believe me, and I think it's gonna take a while for her to get fully comfortable with her hair. It is a big adjustment because she was wearing back to back braids or straightening her hair when it wasn't in braids. And she does have a lot of damage from all of that. So I think as her hair gets healthier, she will love her hair more. We are working through years and years of damage, and the back ended up bouncing back better than the front. Around her face was so broken and had so much heat damage, there wasn't much I could do. So I did try to style it as a bang just to help her grow it out. Like I said, it's gonna be an adjustment, and it's a great first step. They'd never seen her hair hold water or curl the way that it did today. And I know that the volume freaked her out of it, but I wanted to show her how to pick out her root and try and help her embrace her beautiful curls and natural volume.
